The following text its part of the review published by the chilean newspaper“Las Ultimas Noticias”, Economy, on 8th November 2011.

Last week, Adidas Original launched this innovative method. It is a digital screen in which peoplecan look at themselves as a mirror and virtually try on clothes from the store. The screen has a webcam that captures the image of the woman, calculates her body dimensions, extracts a picture of a wear item from its archive and places it on the image of  who is “trying it on”. The special thing about it is that no matter what type of body the person has, the item adequate itself to its dimensions: it grows bigger or smaller, taller or shorter.

“This is thanks to number Phi, which is a relationship between the different points of the face, with which you can calculate how the body dimensions will be. In that way, the webcam captures that relationship and chooses the right size.”, explanes Felipe Luer, general manager of 3Dspirit, the software developer company. The device is part of the denominated “Enhanced Reality”, which overlays virtual images on a real time video capture. The system works with IQ codes read by a camera which allows to generate the images.“The difference is that in that solution the face of the person works as an IQ code”, adds, Luer. “We chose this technology to show our urban collection to a young public who relates quite well with this kind of platforms”, says Daniela Mery, Adidas Original brand manager.
